is that program expensive? i am trying to figure out how to add bones to a mdl in MED. i just dont get it. i tried several times, but the bones jump out of place. do i put bones in, the immediately connect them to vertex?

Med Bones : -
You create bones structure first. Move the bones to their final positions(unselect Move Children).
Then you goto the Apply Vertices Mode. Select a bone and then select the vertex you want to attach with it. Click the Apply Vertices to assign it to the bone or Remove Vertices to remove it from the bone.


Bones Animations benefits using the CFX : -
CharacterFX is very good for Inverse Kinematics Animations. You dont have to move individual bones but position child bones to their new locations and intermediate frames and parent of the bones are calculated automatically to their new best positions.

see, i have milkshape 3d, but i still dont get it. maybe i will spend time with it this summer. i never really gave it a chance. can you import to 3dgs from cfx? i saw fragmotion, looks a lot like milkshape.

I do all my animations in CFX only. Best and cheap, because of IK animation tool its the best you can go.

Fragmotion too has IK, but I havent been comfortable with it. But is very good for model conversions.

Milkshape is used intermidiately, just to convert model data that can be loaded into CFX.


I attach the bones in Med because its very easy and handy to do it in Med.

Then using Fragmotion, I load the .mdl file and convert it into .ms3d file.

Then open the .ms3d file using Milkshape, save it again as a .ms3d(txt) file.

Now you can import the .ms3d(txt) file into CFX.

All these steps are necessary as its the .ms3d{txt) file only that can correctly import the model into CFX correctly with bones and vertex correctly attached.

If you are serious then I will guide you further. Till then try all I have told you. It is very rewarding if you follow the whole thing. IK in CFX is very easy, and if you are for just trying to see if IK is really good then download CFX and you can test the given example models with it.

i just want a program that will make adding bones easier. i just cant seem to do it right with MED.
