Nitro, please take previous post as constructive critisism about your attitudes towards game development for I think you have a fundamentally flawed view of what it's all about and what we can and cannot do in our respective domains.

If you take a step back and reasses your situation, you might see that 3DGS is just a tool, nothing but a tool, and it's all about what YOU can do with that tool... not what other engines can do... not what other people can do... what YOU can do.

And then if you are lucky, you can embrace this (or another engine) and finally fulfill your vision for it would be a shame for your vision to get lost simply because you have unrealistic expectations about the role of software and wetware in game development... and let me tell you from what I'm hearing above there is no game engine in existence that would satisfy your needs because the software of game development is useless if it doesn't have the proper wetware to guide it.

Sorry Fastlane for mentioning you. I should not have done that.

Does me no nevermind.

I just hope that we can get Nitro back on the golden path of game development and away from the dark path of frustration and disappointment.

...They sure as hell banned me for cussing, and I censored it! (with asterisks)... Twas b*ullsh*t...

Anyways, *sigh* people are taking these posts too personally. I'm only posting in here because I want to throw in my 2 cents, as I have nothing better to do at 2 in the morning

Trying to remember some of the things I read... oh yeah.

@Ran Man, your too kind budyy , you've got a good heart man

@fastlane: Thats just testDummy's way of posting. I find it quite amusing, but sometimes it seems as if there is a hidden insult beneath.

Well, thats about all I can think of right now. You guys should view these replies constructivly and open minded[ly], Most don't mean to insult unless they feel insultd. Well, there's about 3 cents, so I'm out until further notice

Ran Man: I have understood your objections against the templates. The A6 templates were not meant to serve as a script template; they serve as a game template. They can be customized, but are not meant to be edited. The A5 templates were better in that regard and easier to understand.

Game templates are for beginners and C-Script/lite-C is for someone who starts more serious programming. What you want is something in between. This might indeed be a gap in Gamestudio's features. If you want code that you can edit and adapt to your purpose, the snippets and workshops by George in the AUM magazine are probably best suited for that.

The A7 templates will consist of a relatively simple lite-C library. All complex stuff, like player and actor movement, is contained in a DLL that exports high-level game and AI functions. You can use this DLL in your own scripts. This probably serves your purpose better than the current A6 templates. But I think it's nonsense to demand from a 3D authoring system not to implement essentially new features.

NITRO77: I have never insulted you and demand from you the same respect towards other members. Whether you stay in this community or not is totally up to you. If you want to stay, just refrain from insulting other people and try to keep to the facts.

Nitro is a very nice guy too, I do see where they're coming from with their critics and in a way I guess 3dgs is lacking the 'in between solution' indeed...

guitaristxxx aka _GOD_ is right though, people should take these sarcastic comments less personal, not just because it ruins a person's day, but moreso because 90% of the time it wasn't meant as an insult. For example testDummy's posts are usually full of sarcasm, I really don't understand why people take those kinds of post so literal or at least fail to see the basic not-so-serious side of it. Sure, it has a message, but it's not as harsh as most seem to think,

Cheers

..."selective memories", I did not need to look long to find the last reply you had made to my Darwin->Rassenhygeine thread which was random, and unprovoked, you said:
Quote:

At a first glance, applying a morality to a scientific theory, like Evolution theory, looks like the usual misunderstandings of simple-minded science-haters:

here you implied that as a Christian, any type of historic or scientific theory which would contradict your own opinions would be "a usual misunderstanding" or "simple minded" or "science hating"

1)I dont hate science, I like it
2)Im not simple minded, though sometimes I wish I was
3)I dont misundertsand things on a usual basis

and the major implication of course was that I had stumbled onto some type of intelligent theory in spite of my simple minded-ness.

None of them descriptions fit me, and I think the statements were insulting and probably were designed to be insulting. I could go on listing these insulting statements by yourself and numerous other members of the forum however I dont have the time or inclination.

As far as the engine I think it is good, especially now with better rendering, but everyone would benefit from a final language and a final set of templates. If you are continually in the process of reinventing yourself then noone will ever be able to do anything substantial. It would be nice if you just build on your existing technology without making the old stuff obsolete every time.

@fastlane
I dont really care to talk to you about it. my original statements to you still stand in my own mind and I am not apologizing for it. Perhaps my methods were crude, but I stand behind the point I was making, however the mistake that I definitely did make was that you would actually be able to understand.

However I will reply to just one point you made:
1)you said no engine has a developed ai system. Wrong. Many professional game engines that develop pro games have very well defined in-house ai systems made to be worked by average level designers Radiant ai and symbionics are the first to come to mind, which are industry standards.. However the only "game making tool" which is closely in the same market as 3dgs that I can think of is VIRTOOLS, which has an excellent set of very modular ai code.

Anyways I am done with this stupid subject, I wont be replying to it again.

Thanks Phemox and Ran Man

Although you've quoted my response out of context, I think you know very well that you were not meant. The people I referred to in this admittedly unfriendly way exist and have influence in the US and in Islam, but I won't count you among them. The thread was anyway about evolution and not about you. No member of this forum is simple-minded, otherwise they weren't into game development.

Before now a new evolution debate starts, I better close this thread.
