Sony is no different than Nindtendo and Microsoft when it comes to this. In fact, they are a little bit better, given that you can legally install and run a Linux OS on the PS3. Sony also had one of the first indie-developer setups back in the PS-One days. But it's true, Katagari did have some amazingly stupid things to say.

Yeah, I guess I didn't do my research that well. I know about the Linux, in fact I should find out how to do that on my PS3. I guess I got my mentality from Sony music, if you're aware of what happens to some of the smaller bands signed to them, but that's a whole different division. It'd be sick if Sony had indie games on the Playstation store, but I seriously can't picture it (mainly because most of the cheap games in the store are worse than any indie game I've ever played). I just thought of something hilarious, Windows XP on PS3 lol.

If you have a PS3, just go to the WebStore icon on the cross-bar. Lots of "indie" games.
Getting back to the original topic: If you want to make a game for the PS3 (or any console) start by making prototypes on your PC first. Hook up a Playstation or XBox360 control to your PC and design around that.
When you come up with a fun game, find that right people to talk to at Sony (or Microsoft) and show them the prototype.

Yes, but how to find the right people though?

Networking Ran Man. It's all about networking. A lot depends on the type of game. I know Microsoft had (has?) a group that helps developers with causal game development for XBox Live. Sony and Nintendo may have similar groups since they are starting to push their download content. Then there are 3rd party publishers you can pitch to. --- If you are thinking about pitching your games, you might want to look at the "Christian Game Developers Conference". It's in Portland, Oregon (about a day's drive up the I-5 for you ). You missed this year, but if you check out their sponsor page, you might find some interested clients.

Hi Doug, No, actually I did not miss this year and those guys at that conference already know me. I attended this year and also in 2003 and 2004. Aside from RPC and one other developer there, everybody else there always ignores my works. Their vendors always do the same. The leaders there for sure are stuck in "bible story" mode. One of the leaders of that conference, for example, says that I glorify piracy with Cain. <see below> CAIN THE COUGAR <with no shaders>: See that pirate hat he wears? Well can't have fun in christian games bro... It always seems so funny to me. They always talk about "Torque" every year there and how great it is, but nobody ever actually finishes a game with it. Every year the same thing. <TORQUE IS GREAT! Yeah, but where is your game? Don't know, duh...> I think because my games have "Gods voice" in them, then nobody likes it there. Those creatures at that conference seem to have great "religiousity" in them, but no creativity or imagination. lol As for that latest game I posted in showcase2 below: THE ZOO RACE - Game in showcase 2 thread Well, most christian sites just ignore it or talk it down. So, the people here actually responded more favorably than the "religious" ones did. Weird huh? I think that real fun is secondary and religious ideology is primary with these good religious folks. I think the people on this forum understand and value new ideas and "creativity", while the religious ones don't. lol Gee, well I hate to sound negative, but hey, they already know me well at that game conference. Onwards to SHAREWARE distributions... Hooray! At least the poor kid in china or east europe will see it. Good for them.

Interestingly, that is the exactly what is happening with people making academic educational games... they have great "pedagogy" in them, but no creativity. If it doesn't look like a test, smell like a test, and suck like a test, then they are not interested.
And again the same thing with Torque. They are at just about every academic/gaming convention I've attended and yet they have the same throughput as we do here at 3DGS. Lot's of talk talk talk about how torque can help them make their games and blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda... I get a little bit of bile rising in my throat every time I remember their worn out pitches repeated without change at every conference.
But don't let that discourage you, Ran; quite the opposite. Your game is sending a message about your religious worldview in a way that is more attractive to your audience, children, than any straight up choose-your-own-biblical-adventure game could. And Doug is 100% right that our mission is won by making creative and fun games AND networking... attend the conferences and find the one or two people that see things the way you do... build those relationships, nurture them as you would any other living thing... and when the time is right, Karma or God or whatever your spiritual metaphor of choice will bear the fruits of your labor!
Have you thought about direct sales, going church to church selling your wares?
