Hi folks,

Still hashing through the selection issues, but I've made progress. Here's the beef:

Working: You can select an enemy, by either left clicking, or pressing tab (which uses scanning from the player to find the closest enemy in a 180x180 degree cone). You can then right_click anywhere and it will remove the selection marker (entity).

Not working: Able to repeat the process, so that a new selection marker is created to replace it, and the process starts over from scratch.

Goal: able to click or tab through enemies, untill the desired enemy is reached.

I've recontructed the code several ways, and it actually works in many different ways, But no matter how I write the code, once the entity is removed, it will not restart and create a new one? I'm lost, and have now spent probably about 15-20 hours just on this part, please help me coders! lol

Here is a demo level, including a compiled version, and all of the code. The action bar is there, and the buttons work, but they are not linked to any spell casting until I get this part down pat.

To whoever solves this little selection problem, I'll make you a skinned model (under 500 polys) of your choice, tonight!

Thanks folks,

Jesse

Oh, please also tell me what I was doing wrong (aside from using duplicate entities).

I'm mainly trying to understand how enities work better, and how functions use them as arguments. I'd really like to know why when you right click and it removes the entity again, thr process couldn't start over. Was I stuck in a loop somewhere? Or can't that removed entity be used again?

If you figured it out, and have the results for me, just PM me with info on the model you want done

Hi oldschoolj

I beleive that entities that are remove cannot be used again.

Solution : When you pick the Entity just teleport it to a new location behind the camera, keep a record of where it is and you can use it anytime after that.

Hope this helps

@Ottawa Thanks to you, I gave up on the ent_remove bit, and actually solved the problem. I move the current entity to the target, and toggle it's visibility on and off.

Hi oldschoolj!

I'm happy to see that you solved your situation.

3D is an illusion and toggling your entity is good. I do it often.
