First of all: There exists a very good export plugin by ventilator (the link is in his signature), so you don´t have to code one for yourself
Second: I like blender very much because after a short amount of time invested in tutorials and a very good book about it, i got to knoe the main functions and it´s always a wonderful moment when you discover a new function which improves your models or saves time =)
In addition to that, blender has lots of possibilities and functions and i think you can use your skills for other programs as well, so if you (what, of course, would be a pity) want to drop 3dgs for another engine or if you want to make little animation films, or whatever you won´t need a new program. I guess MED isn´t a very well-known tool.

To come to a conclusion: I´d use blender. It´s more comfortable, has lots of lots of functions and on top of that you have another very good community only for the modelling tool (though all my questions got answered in this wonderful forum )

Greetings, Thracian
