i see
u can select the vertex in the 3d view and the rightclick on xy.view ore yz.view and then recreate view ore refrehand then start one the space of the vertex and move it the way u want

i hope u understand me

I wish constraints in 3D view too, particular useful when editing path.

I think that I understand you. Let me reiterate just to make sure. You suggest selecting the vertex in 3d mode, then making the z-adjustment in the 2d view. That's pretty good advice, but I'm much rather have some built in function which makes it possible to constrain movement right in the 3d window. It would save me a lot of time.

Also, I'm finding difficult to keep the vertex selected in the 3d window. If I click on the vertex once, it turns red in the 3d view and becomes highlighted in the 2d views. However, when I release the mouse button, the vertex is no longer selected. I found a sneaky way to keep it selected: You can right click on it and choose "copy". Then it will remain highlighted in the other views.

Here's a picture to show you what I mean:

Even if there's some way to achieve what I'm trying to do, it sure would be nice to be able to do it right in the 3d view. Efficiency is a great thing while working on large levels.

Thanks!

Another way to do it (assuming you're using snapping) would be to move the cube with your vertex out of the way somewhere, and then you can select it in the 2D views.

Code:
void main()
{
    cout << "I am MrCode,";
    cout << "hear me roar!";
    system("PAUSE");
}

I support clone45 idea, and sometimes I am suffering the same problem. The yellow vertex overlap the select red vertex.

My workaround is, hold right mouse button and drag a little in 2D view, the red selected vertex will bring to front.

With constraints in 3D view I think we don't need to access 2D view so often. And working in 2D view I think this is very outdated.

click more times at the same pos and you will select the right vertice after max. 3 clicks. But if you want select in 3d view, you have to move the camera a bit in 2d view and the vertice can be moved

(sry for bad english, if it´s bad)

Thanks for the suggestions. We'll make vertex movement easier and will allow axis restrictions for vertex movement in the 3d view.
