Hi,
I try not to compare 3DGS with pro 3D games like DIRT, FLIGHTSIM or whatever - I know 3 DGS is not a game but an editor ;-).
Its a great tool for me and I wouldnt compete with large scale game companies.
But still I am wondering that 3DGS can use only models that look like from the early 90's DOS demos. What is the reason for this ? Any average PC with a NVDIA or ATI card can digest a good looking model (provided you have nice models).
cheers
Sven

I guess he didn't looked at Andvari or Alienhead their models yet Matt
3dgs started small with A4 and now it's an amazing company that is (re)developing every option inside the editors, just look at A7 and compare it to A6 Btw, Jcl or Doug could probably indicate this way better then I do so I'll keep my mouth shut

Cheers

Such rumors can be stopped easily by providing a decent tech-demo.

look at Kabus 22, that has incredible graphics, i know I am not producing projects of that quality, yet, but seeing everyones work, I know it's possible.

My Famous Quotes: "Hip hop is like a virus, infecting everyone and everything around it. Every form of media has some way, shape or form, assimilated hip hop into it." It has also mutated into other strains like, trip hop, house, rap, gangster, and conscious forms. Once you are infected with it, its with you for life."

OK. Maybe I got this impression while digging through all the old demo sources or free models. Do you have a link to show me non-low-polygons ?

But there is a limit (I insist on that part) on my silly attempt to convert some "bigger" 3DStudio model into the MDL editor. I wish there would be "convert-it-to-less-polygon-tool" ;-)

Think one problem when starting with 3DGS are the very "distributed" infos, docs and samples.

Thanks for feedback
cheers

Conitec is partly to blame for having so ugly
Models (Cyberbabe, Warlock) in their tech demo and templates.
Also the standard WAD included is rediculous, consisting of
textures that are at least 11 years old. (some quake 1 textures)
People new to the engine, who just look at the 3dgs demo will get
such an impression.

Of course acknex can display nice Models.

@Sam360: 3DGS is a game engine/authoring tool and can handle any model that is suitable for a game. If you want to see some nice models, search for those from user "Andvari" in Showcase I.
