And he wants to dissolve the department of education.. madness.

What?! Where did you ever grab this idea from? He wants to redirect the money used in the war for education.

Yes, but he also wants less bureaucracy.. perhaps that's why?

Cheers

Paul adopted the *Republican Liberty Caucus* Position Statement which specifically endorses ABOLISHING the Department of Education:

As adopted by the General Membership of the Republican Liberty Caucus at its Biannual Meeting held December 8, 2000.
WHEREAS libertarian Republicans believe in limited government, individual freedom and personal responsibility;
WHEREAS we believe that government has no money nor power not derived from the consent of the people;
WHEREAS we believe that people have the right to keep the fruits of their labor; and
WHEREAS we believe in upholding the US Constitution as the supreme law of the land;

BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Liberty Caucus endorses the following [among its] principles:
The US Department of Education should be abolished, leaving education decision making at the state, local or personal level. Parents have the right to spend their money on the school or method of schooling they deem appropriate for their children.

I still think it's about the department not the education itself though when it comes to Ron Paul. I don't want to defend him or anything, but he seems to be quite a member of the wrong party as far as most of his ideas go. (Yeah, minus the Christian ramblings ...)

Cheers

He's in the right party, its just the party has changed so much in the last 20-30 years. The Republicans use to believe that the government works best when it does less.

It doesn't matter. The primaries are designed to weed out all the 'good' candidates before the main election (e.g. those who have ideas, courage, or refuse to give in to corporate interests). In 2008, you'll get to select from the lesser of two evils.

Typical for an opposition politician, or a presidential candidate:

Blame the "government" for spending too much money,
promising to remove the IRS and the income tax,
(wich everyone would like of course). But on the other side
never specifically stating wich expenditure should be cut / reduced, so
none of the voters feels attacked personally.
/and thus would not vote for him / his party)

Less Taxes mean of course less expenditures. And a lot of people, organizations
and businesses would loose some kind of support.

People are easy to cheer up by simple "make everyone happy" proposals.

Its as true as when guys say to a girl
"I just want to kiss, not more"

and later:

"Its not going to hurt baby"
