He's in the right party, its just the party has changed so much in the last 20-30 years. The Republicans use to believe that the government works best when it does less.

It doesn't matter. The primaries are designed to weed out all the 'good' candidates before the main election (e.g. those who have ideas, courage, or refuse to give in to corporate interests). In 2008, you'll get to select from the lesser of two evils.
