adobe premiere, even if it's not perfect, it's close, once you got an idea how it works. i got a stripped-down version of power director as well, to be honest, it didn't convince me, neither rendering nor editing was faster compared to adobe, instead, the flashy interface distracts you from work. if you decide to install linux, you could use the totally free cinelerra http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinelerra , one of the best editing and compositing programs out there.
