TheExpert: This is just a personal preference and has nothing to do with this topic. But to explain it better to you: I enjoy it to play against bots. I can control the level of difficulty and the bots choose missing classes. So it leads to better gameplay and more strategic options. If anybody like me likes to play the assault mode from UT then ETQW is perfect. It even improves this mode and makes it better. But I agree with you. If you enjoy Deathmatch and hop around in QW then it will not make fun. You have to place turrets and mines, use vehicles and much more to have fun with it. But please, lets stop to spam this topic with explaining our personal preferences. We should accept that many people can have different preferences. Because of this there are many different products at the market and they even sell

Personal attack?
No, but you've managed to rip it out of it's context nicely. Off course that wasn't a personal attack. It's more a critic to the game than anything else.
By the way personal preferences is what this thread probably comes down to anyways.. so yeah, people will agree and disagree, that's just the way things go,

id Tech 4 is also a good engine but mainly older than U3. The kernel of id-Tech 4 is about 3 years old. So it is easy to see that there must be a difference.
3 years is a long time and I really think it's visible in Quake Wars..
About the objectiveness, I don't think any of us have made games using those engines.. so it'll be a matter of mostly looking at games made with these engines and go from there. Not much room for objectiveness, especially if you say that Quake Wars is looking prettier than Unreal Tournament 3. Don't get me wrong, I've got no problem whatsoever that you said that, but remarks like those seem fan-boy-ish to me.

Nevertheless we can sum it up and say that both engines are amazing, render dozens of highly detailed and animated characters with shaders, big levels, vehicles, indoors, particles, network, AI and highly detailled weapons in view. I personaly like the artworks of ETQW more than those from UT. I could show what I mean with images, textures, characters, vehicles, but since I only know the demo of UT (which is said to have medium textures only) I will just leave it like it is. You can enjoy your meal, but you should enjoy your game Whatever game you choose, it is made to have fun and nobody can convince another person of his own fun-preference.

Actually, I definitely like certain parts of the art style of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars better than what I've seen up to now in Unreal Tournament 3 too, probably because it's a tad more realistic and has a cool color-scheme. The metallic looking surfaces and the futuristic army stuff is done really well. However, I wouldn't say Unreal Tournament is uglier... it's just a different style and technically it's more advanced. You are right about enjoying the game(s)! Cheers
