Not as i know of. Worked with OBJ only the last time i had a look at it. But that was with Version 0.8.

The Makehuman mesh also has a high polycount. I think it was around 12k, mixed between quads and tris. I dislike the edgeloopflow too. Well, software like Silo has retopo tools nowadays. And so it may be possible to save some work with using Makehuman. But as long as there is no Makeanimal you may be in trouble to fit your meshes together then, qualitywise.
