Thought I'd give this a blast as its my fave gendre but has or is anyone else here into it too and if so, what are your thoughts on it?

Seems similar to Freelancer in many ways from the reviews.

I've played it for a month - It's nice looking, iz's very interesting. But somehow I got bored from having to Mine Asteroids like 80% of the time to get money - Thats just annoying!

Anyhoo, lets see if I can find some screenshots

I'm currently playing on a trial account again. They came up with a new update some days ago which greatly (and i mean GREATLY) improves the visual quality. I was stunned by its looks. To get the new look you have to download a premium patch which you can access in the options menue. (Don't worry about the "premium" here, it's free )

Other than that...well i like eve, but like Michael i think it boring to mine asteroids ... and because of that i just don't mine asteroids Instead i'm doing missions, which are quite lucrative, too

Here are some pics of the updated engine:

Well, if you're into spacegames, you should definately give it a shot However don't expect freelancer or wing commander gameplay. Considering the fighting aspect, eve is not much different from other mmorpgs: You click on an enemy, do a few other clicks to activate your weapons and other hardware...and then you lean back and wait, like in wow

Impressive shots but dont like the sound of the gameplay.
Homeworld was cool in that you could mine in a hurry and freelancer didnt give enough for the risks but still, have downloaded the latest so might give it a blast on Xmass day (when I have some time available).

Thanks guys.

True, it kind of ruined the green color it originally had, but when seen in motion, the newer screenshot is definitely more impressive. Still, you've got a point,

Cheers

Although I don't play it (I tried the demo) I still read their newsletter and watch their new updates and stuff. Their artwork, models and stories are great . The way they present their game with their nicely lay-out'ed newsletters, website and all the fuzz around is really good. Their new trinity pack seems like lots of fun too, seen the screenshots of the new ships. Beautiful eyecandy designs .

But I do not play the game due to it's complexity and time consuming handlings you have to perform to get started into the game. There's little action (as far as I've seen), and the last thing I don't like is that you can not move freely around, unlike freelancer which was a great game as well.

Freelancer is way less pretty pretty with graphics and the game wasn't regulary updated anymore so you got bored in the end, the game was fun and playable for me because you had the ability to fly around with direct user input and freelancer did not require alot of management knowledge. Simple interface when you buy and mount equipment on your ship, which is pretty much in contrast with eve online .

And seen the artwork and read the stories, I'd be a fan of gallente
