no, but you cannot use these models with your old a6.1 as the format has changed quite a bit.

I just wanted to post that too, I tried it and get a "bad MDL" message. So what can I do?

I feel a bit like having been tricked, because I paid 50 euros which is not so few for me and now I don't even get the smallest patches. Ok, one very small patch which doesn't really fix anything. If conitec or sybex want their clients to feel offended, this is one of the easiest way to do this :/ having them watch others get their updates while they sit on their old version! Although they paid the same price (and just took the wrong publisher).

this has been discussed several times. i myself were first a sybex customer and have been annoyed quite a bit, so i can understand what you feel. however, conitec offers the opportunity to update sybex versions to "real" game studios (e.g. sybes std->conitex extra). but this has been when a6 was still in development. when a6 came out, i fear this service has died. nevertheless, ask jcl. if you can afford an update, of course.

If you don't need the bones, then you can save your model as MDL5. That's the old format which is good for the older and newer versions of the engine.

pappenheimer as broozar and me already mentioned, my version is too old. I'd need acknex 4.6. Conitec should never have given Sybex the permission to publish 3dgs. And now, as they did, they don't even stand by that and give the Sybex users no patches (afaik because of copy pirates! this is dumb as they make public betas where everyone can get and crack the executable and don't want to publish a patch?? but I am not completely sure if this was the reason), I should pay them even more money?
I would probably update if they just gave me the patches and don't treat me like someone who has only paid half price or something! I'd be happy then, love 3dgs and buy A7.

I mean, they could have made the Acknex 4.6 version update cost something (and just naming it upgrade). I wouldn't have any problem with that. But it is just really unfair to give the update for free to the users who bought the 3dgs for 50 euros from conitec and not to give it to customers who bought it for 50 euros from Sybex! What does Conitec expect me to do? Be happy and fully satisfied with this and upgrade and all?

A company needs happy customers to make money. And this is not a good thing on this point (although there are a few good reasons why 3dgs is good or at least not bad). Conitec should definitely think again about their position.

Sybex should have better informed their customers about the limitations or did they? Also you got the Sybex book and people who bought from Conitec did not. You should have looked up the official Conitec (GameStudio) website before purchase it from Sybex to see differences. Not just buy and later realize you bought a cat in bag or how is it said ^^

IMO I believe that Conitec thought about their position and therefore made a deal with Sybex to get even more attention and money for each Sybex edition sold or something like that.

I don't know if Sybex forget to clear up this point or whatever the reason is, all I know is that Conitec could give the Sybex users updates if they wanted to, and they don't do it. I don't know if this is Sybex's or Conitec's mistake or if it was planned this way and Sybex just forgot to tell the customers about that.

At least Conitec could still give Sybex users patches if they wanted to - obviously they don't. And I just can't understand why :-(

Anyone any other idea about importing models to A6.1?

Okey, to make my suggestion more clear:
"If you don't need the bones, then you can"
export your model in blender to mdl7,
load it into the free version of MED,
and then
"save your model as MDL5."
because
"That's the old format which is"
working within
"the older and newer versions of the engine."
(Maybe, I'm wrong, because I didn't test it. But, did you try that?)

Do you think that I can't read?

Just repeating an already written sentence is sometimes no answer at all.
Especially, when a different question is asked.

I didn't post my reply in a modified way to bother you, I did it, because out of your posts, it isn't clear what you actually tried to do.

These things are full of details, and as long as you don't offer details about what you already tried you can't expect to get any solution.
