I know how you feel about wanting to make a big, awesome game. When I bought 3dGS I had the same idea in mind, but since I had no experience in anything, I could just make a small, 1 lvled game. I was pretty disappionted with that, but the peerson who introduced me to 3DGS told me that I was doing exactly what i was suppposed to be doing... starting out small, learning the basics and then once i know what i am good, join a team. Look at me now 2 years later, I have made models for many different people, and I recently joined a team as modeler/animator for a commericial game - and I am still only 14. Hope this post helps .

It could be that testdummy, or it could be that you just wanting to go with the overall flow... I am very suprised to see that so many people are pro-discouragment. It kinda goes with the saying "if you don't have anything good to say then don't say it at all"

And besides that, the name of the post is 'anyone want to create a game', so if you don't want to create a game, then why post? (btw that was retoricule)

have you ever done any commercial work with a game?

I ask because if so you'd know that you don't start with a project on this scale, although almost everyone tries, it saves much time for the beginner to be told right off the bat if its an almost impossible task. Such words aren't meant as discouragement but as words of advice from the much more experienced users.

I don't mean to be rude or discouraging, but are you f***ing serious? Please tell me that first post was a joke, possibly by an experienced forum member that created another username for this?

...What I see is that the experienced users (those that have shown us actual work) repeating an obvious fact that has been proven many times, to the (shall I say) "noobs" that have no REAL experience with the limits of 3D GameStudio.

There's no need for common sense to anyone's project at all, he may dream what he wants, and he may ask for others to dream this dream with him.

And, there is no need to spoil someone's thread with advices which had been mentioned in thousands of posts in the forums of this community!

The most posts in this thread didn't relate to the thread's initial post, because there was no request for advices, there is no showcase, no ask for c&c.

IMO, a thread relates to that one who started it, and it is a matter of politeness not to spoil his thread. (If this were Morbius I wouldn't mind, because each forum has slightly different rules.)

I very much agree with all the statements here, mainly the last one. I don't think that he should start off with such a big project but he should only need one person not four or five to tell him in an encouraging way. That way he doesn't throw away his entire will to be apart of the community
