I think there's no cheap way of doing what you want, but it's already possible to play along your favorite songs with a real guitar through software. You could buy a Line6 GuitarPort and jam along with songs through software that comes with it...
it's nothing quite like a Guitarhero game though, but then again playing real songs is hardly pressing 4 buttons.
