Hello Forum: I have downloaded and installed Lite-C. I cannot get SED and sample.c to compile and run. System is XP (SP2), AMD 2.2gig, 1meg memory, ATI Radeon 9600 (latest drivers), DirectX9.0c. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Lite-C several times. I have also installed WED. Attempting to open WED brings up a WINDOWS program-crash dialogue. Back to SED, I have added –diag to the SED command line and the debug log provides this output:

Options small.c -eq -nj -diag -tm

I tried the debug recommended –W3D but that doesn’t seem to help. BTW, I have installed Lite-C on my son’s PC and it works fine. Any ideas are most welcomed.

Change the Resolution of the sample.c to 1024x768, then it should Work.

Sorry for my bad English i am from Germany.

-W3D is not the solution here. It's a command line option for supporting very old 3D hardware, like Riva TNT2. Your 3D hardware is quite recent.

It could be a hardware fault on the 3D card, or a yet unknown driver issue.

WED won't run under the free version of lite-C. But you could install and try MED. Can you run any other 3D applications, for instance the demos on the download page?

MED also gives an error and will not start.

I have tried adding
video_screen=1
as the first line in main() / small.c which at least clears the screen to black, then aborts with an error message.
video_mode=8
just aborts w/ error message.

Downloaded demos do not work. I'm not sure how to test whether I have a driver problem (or missing driver) or a hardware problem.

I have reinstalled the motherboard AGP drivers. I ran an independent DirectX test which did not report any errors, and I have disabled all overclocking (which was modest) but am now running all bios at system defaults.

I downloaded the factory.zip (bronx street walkthrough). At start I get
Error E-2005530516 Can't create D3D device

That's all the followup testing I've done.

Hello Folks,

I fixed the problem. It turns out that the newer drivers were confounding the hardware. I switched from ATI drivers to OMEGA drivers, then worked backwards until I found a version that seemed to work well for me, rad_w2kxp_omega_38221. I suspect with some tweaking I can get a newer version to work.

I have tested with some downloaded games from the website, and have tested with SED and small.c (works), and with MED (works).

Happy, Happy.
