Don't really need WED it's just for speedup your workflow and easier than having to do all this by code. You can model your world/objects in a 3d modeler and use MED only for converting. In the end everything can be loaded, oriented etc with script code. There is also a member (TripleX) on this forum working on his own level editor called GameEdit. Look
here. The author has switched to C++ because of problems with Lite-C and big projects something that made me think about Lite-C in general.
