I agree with this.

i think a simple model like the one you posted should take about 20 hours which.. i guess could be done, but if your working 20 hours a day your life sucks you'll die from exhaustion soon.

as far as the models for doom3, you have to remember that not only did they have to take all these steps then, then they had to throw it all into a sculpting program, which, 5 years ago, I cant picture running very fast, and then they had to make the normal maps off of that sculpted model, so yeah, i think thats why it took them so long.

I think a model like the one you posted should take about 3 work days.
