Hi there,

I was wondering, Ive been trying to set up a paypal transaction on a site I have made and this is also concerning my idea to sell any small games I make....
I know some people sell their plugins etc using paypal I was wondering if you could offer any advice....

Does the transaction you make on paypal always have to give the buyer your name and adress on their e mail transaction receipt?

I mean its not that good to publicise onese own adress if you are a home industry? Also, I have made a site for some people and they have published some things using pen names. So they dont want to give their real names.

I dont think its possible not to give this in paypal transactions, can anyone let me know if it is or any other alternatives?

I would be really greatful. If I ever get round to making a game, I dont particularly want my adress apearing to all who buy either if I sell it on my own site.... Thanks.

Guess you have some privacy rights and not have to show to everyone all details or can set it to whatever you like. Paypal will know your real identity via bank/credit card statement. Most times I paid someone it only required me to know their email address. Select type of transaction and set at comments anything i'd like. Also a address could be a PO box as well.

They need all your data. They even need a proof that your data are not wrong. They say this is to prevent money laundering.

But this proof is not needed if you only pay a few bucks. But if you transfer more than 1000 Euros they will ask you and restrict your account meanwhile.

I don't see a way around this. If you work from home, the buyer (and paypal) has to have some proof that you are real. In the US, we have Post Office (PO) boxes which you can rent. Not sure if paypal will take that as an address, but I don't see why not. That way, any mail goes to the PO and if anyone needs to find out where you live (not just curious, but needs like for legal reasons), then the Post Office can tie your PO box to you... but it has to be legal and I can't just walk up and say "Who own's that PO?". This is one way to get mail, generate and address, and stay anonymous. Don't know if there is an English equivalent but you might want to look in that direction.

We have po box here.

Its not really an issue for me at moment but its the people I made the site for.
If you think about it though, if you are a writer of a book which is largely autobiographical, which will have a lot of personal info, perhaps even ones mothers maiden name, dob etc etc.

Then someone buys it, the transaction gives your adress, full name. You can then start to see the concern over ID fraud.

You may already be familiar with such services, but if not, Plimus has been pretty good for us. I believe they even accept payment via PayPal.

...Shareit might do as well. I've tried it and it does a good job. Take a look at the Conitec Shop to see how Shareit works.

Both Plimus and Shareit should accept Paypal I think.
