Hi im new to gamestudio and just recently downloaded A7 trial.
I tried learning MED through the Game Design Tutorial on there website but got stuck when it reached texturing. The tutorial seemed to me to just though some sized at me like 128x256(dont know what to do with that?) and also mentioned something about using a paintshop to creat the textures(does it mean windows paintshop? and if so how would i us that?) It then shows me there finished model textures of the lamp that i was working on and jump right into placing them on the model.

Did I miss something or was I suposed to just know that step?
And if you think my question could be answered in this MED tutorial thats suposed to come with MED that I can't seem to find could you tell me the title of the folder or instructions on how to get to it.

The buttons changed a bit since that time.

thanks for the responce but I didnt really under stand stuff in the link?
I can't seem to separate in what program your drawing/painting the skins or textures on the model and how your doin it. In my A7 med the only thing refering to skins is the skin manager.

Sorry for being such a newb at this but when it comes to learning computer programs I useually need a step by step visual of the basics to get started.

although I can happly and surprizingly say the modeling part which I thought would be the hardest was actually the easyest to learn.

but again still dont under stand skining/texturing the models I created
plz help

I went to the AU resours pages and tried to do the skining turorial that was for A6 but apparently there is a big difference in A7 MED skining.
is there a more up to date A7 MED tutorial?

Okey! Click in MED Help and About to see what version you use.
Post it here and I tell you where you find the functions that you need!

first of all ms paint that comes with windows is terrible , there are many free paint programs that do much more and are much better , look in the TOOLS section
of the forum the very top has a thread for starving developers , i suggest getting
a paint program from there. secondly about how to use them .... practice makes perfect .... experiment with both paint and med and sooner or later you will
begin to get the understanding for them

Okay! There we go:

You have to create a mapping and import a picture for the skin.

What you've got is a 3D Mesh of your model, what you still need is a 2D mesh of your model.

Experiment with this 3 functions:
Create 2-sided Mapping
Create 6-sided Mapping
Create Atlas Mapping

Try the first first, then click Edit > Skin Editor and look what you've got there. That's a very basic layout of your model's mesh.
Just to get the principle, import in the skin editor a pic, and look at the model in the 3d view, to see how the pic and the 2d layout of the mesh results in the skin on the 3d mesh...
