I'm having trouble right now and hope this is right place to post since it relates to the MED Model Editor. OK, I was trying out this tutorial:

http://www.djbm.kawanda.net/3dgs_tuts/tut_fbx_to_med.html

But when I wanted to "Export Selected", there was no Autodesk (.FBX) option! I have 3DS Max 2008, just like the guy in the tutorial, but why doesn't mine have the .FBX format?

I mean could it be the errors I get when I open up the program?

When I run the programme, before it opens, it says:

DLL <C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2008\stdplugins\SceneExplorerView.gup> failed to initialize. Error code: 126 - The specified module could not be found

Which is weird since when I went to that folder, I found the SceneExplorerView.gup. Then after the program opens I get the following:

Syntax error: at dotNetControl, expected <rollout control>
In line: button b

Similar errors appear 3-4 times before no more errors show up. I tried finding the "button b" and replacing it with rollour control but couldn't find it. I assume that's what it wants me to do (I'm not a scripting person).

But yeah, can anyone figure out why I don't have .FBX?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm, that is strange why you dont have .fbx as an import/export plugin.

Ok, here are my suggestions...

1) Download the latest version of Direct X and install it.
2) Download the latest version of .NET framework and install it.
3) Find your 3DS MAX 2008 installation and run it. When it aks you how you want to install it, click repair. If you cannot find your installation you will have to download it again.

Are you using XP SP2 or Vista?

looks like your missing a dll from goin by the start of that sentence. if not then your installation is corrupted and you should run repair.

looks like you deleted/or not installed the FBX export plugin.

I'm running Windows XP.

Thanks for replies BTW, I'll try all your suggestions as soon as possible.

As for the .FBX I fixed it. I got the required file from another computer that had 2008 and placed it in my stdplugs folder. Now I can expert as an .FBX.

Oddly enough though, I re-tried that tutorial exactly the same but when I import into MED Model Editor, my textures don't show -.-"

Trying to figure that out. But anyways once I tried all your suggestions (such as repairing etc.) I'll post again.

Well make sure your textures are either .bmp, .tga or .dds. MED doesn't support any other format for textures apart from those.
