hey while posting this question i discovered pretty mucht the same thing.

and ent_decal is a function for particles which i overlooked.

so far i tried using ent_create with a tga file that did not seem to work but a pcx file it did seem to work.

i am going to try some file extentions to see if some take alpha layering.
