I was thinking about learning a language and I like the sounds of the German language. Is there really any reason to learn German other than because its an interesting language? Would it actually serve me any purpose in life if I was to learn it?

yes, if you got to germany, you can interact with people
but seriously. i learned german, it helped me a lot on these forums already.
some threads are german only, while i couldnt oin the conversation, i still can make up what everybody says and what it's all about. I think that nowadays is my main useage of it, however i got a vacation job in germany for this summer (ok, not certain yet, but i applied and had some contact), due to my small german knowledge, i got easier pass all other aplicants.
and learning new languages is fun
