Why do we need Showcase III? IMHO, 2 Showcase forums are good enough for me. I don't see a reason for adding it...

Its not brian surgery! If you have been working on your game for like 3 weeks, then you post it in 1, If you truly feel that your game looks great and is professional, then you post it in 2. But if you can't understand that then most likely you SHOULD NOT post in Showcase 2!!

The basic idea of TAcker and me was to offer a place where further progressed or comercial projects can get serious critics and opinions on the project.

As the SC I is spammed over and over with Homepages, Models and other things like that is it very difficult to get helpful comments on a whole project because such topics arent visible enough in all the "trash".

But, jcl, i've to say that the name "Showcase II" isnt that well chosen. What about "Project Showcase"? It would describe the idea of that new one better, too.

SC I could be "Misc Showcase" and the 2nd "Project´s Showcase".

Yes, the "showcase 2" is a very special place for serious developers and teams, not only for finished products.
On the hard way to the destination of a work - everybody has the possibility to show nearly every step of his development in showcase 1 - even the last crap. And this means not, that all these steps lost any kind of attractiveness. And after this very hard controversial discussion, if the community needs a second showcase or not, I am very proud, that the majority agrees with my opinion, that there are differences between the arts of everybody and that there m u s t be a opportunity to show good results and seperate them of all the other inferior work. There are two simple rules to show products in showcase2:

1. Ask yourself - do you think your own works belongs to this place?
2. Except for this, if you want to sell your work or if your want to share it
without payment -
I S there a possibility for a commercial a n d professional distribution?

Sure - the quality of every shown work here is at last the personal taste of every individual.
For example - I do not like the pc-game "black and white" - but it was a bestseller.
My favourite Band is nine inch nails - other people would like to see Trent Reznor in hell.
But "the fragile" and other albums are bestsellers.
"Kroko Mania", the game, made by A. Zeitler (f.k.a. "photon interactiv") could be a very simple
game in the eyes of someone - and of course - nearly everybody here thought - "my god - I could make it better" - but Kroko Mania reaches the status of a commercial game, which is in distribution of BHV.


@checkbutton: One personal wish - if you close a topic or move it to sc1 - please delete it in sc2
I would like to see Showcase 2 as a holy, clean place.

i think it was started and should stay as a place only for playable games which are only a few steps away from beeing published, or have been published (for sure it could also be a professional presentation of product, or whatever). otherwise if people start showing every little fly as in showcase1 i am going to drown this one with billions of effects which really look professional but just dont belong into this second showcase.
