We haven't released a new release for beta testers within the last month, but hope to do so soon.

Oh, also wanted to ask out of interest - how many MB is the game right now, how much to you expect the demo to be and how much do you expect the full version to be? (approximately)
Thanks

We're going to aim for ~25MB for the playable demo, (much of which will be audio assets), and ~80MB for the full, downloadable game. For the demo, smaller is much better, both for the downloader and our servers.

Sorry to revive old thread ,

But Ive just noticed your Game in the "Digital Underground" section
of the august issue of Computer Gaming World.

They seem skeptical about the game, but also intrigued by the games modability.

but its publicity in a major gaming mag!

Congrats on that!

Thanks! For those who have the issue, the preview was on page 54 of the August 2004 Computer Gaming World, and is under "Digital Underground: The best games you've never seen." The Digital Underground section typically does a "what sounds good" and "what sounds bad" of upcoming games, so we're pretty happy with the mention and the screenshot.

For those interested, here's the press release we wrote, which is likely what put us on their radar:

Quote:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dejobaan Games Announces Inago Rage, Challenges Players to Create and Fight

March 9th, 2004 -- Independent developer Dejobaan Games
(www.dejobaan.com) announces Inago Rage, a single-player, first-person
shooter that challenges players to create and fight in their own 3D arenas.
The game is currently in beta test for Windows, and is scheduled for a
Summer 2004 release.

In Inago Rage, players don jump packs to do battle both on the ground and in
the air. Fast-paced gameplay pits players against up to two hundred enemies
at once, for frantic, arcade-style action. The game offers 52 levels, which
take place in a variety of environments, from city rooftops to deep space to
the event horizon of a black hole.

The game's storyline is presented in graphic novel format, and centers
around Ise "Inago" Asahi and her fellow Ganymede University students. At the
game's start, the group has converted an unused stadium into an arena filled
with aerobatic combat challenges. Here, they hold weekly matches and
challenge would-be athletes to compete. As players advance through these
challenges, the story progresses, and Ise transforms a casual pastime into a
spectator sport famous on a dozen worlds.

Inago Rage also offers players an integrated arena designer created so that
both casual and hardcore gamers can enjoy building. Players begin by placing
architectural elements such as platforms, buildings, and towers via a simple
drag-and-drop interface. In the same manner, they can specify where and when
enemies and power-ups will generate. Environmental elements such as fog,
smoke, fire, and lighting are created with a click of the mouse, and can be
combined to produce entirely new effects. At any time during the building
process, players can test their levels out, switching to play mode with the
touch of a button. They can also share their finished creations with other
fans via the Inago Rage Trading Post website.

About the company: Dejobaan Games is an independent development studio best
known for its Palm OS and Pocket PC creations. Its goal is to win the hearts
and minds of gamers everywhere by offering them an experience they can't get
anywhere else.

I think the beta test period is a good time for an independent developer to start sending out releases for a particular product. Any earlier, and the press is likely to ignore you completely, (unless you have a track record); any later, and you've missed out on an opportunity to talk up your stuff.

How did you make everything glow so much, are they from the engine (flag or c-script) or did you code shaders?
