I can't wait for a demo. Everything looks like it was very carfully made and the game looks fun to play.
Very nice work.

BTW this is my 300th post.

We should be going full speed ahead again after the new year. Fuxer is busy at the moment and I am too. We are spending what time we have to do some vacation-like stuff. Fuxer is playing with modelling and I am trying to get some explainations from Conetic on why c_trace is doing whatever it is doing.

We are going to test out a all-model level, I have been changing over the code to make this work and also doing test with c_move and c_trace incase we want to use them under certain conditions. Unfortunately, the monster ai, camera code, etc has gone loco using c_trace, because it never returns a result of 0. So the monsters and camera always think there is an obstacle when there isn't.

Anyhow, it shouldn't be too long after the new year that we should be posting some new updates on what is going on. After we get busy on the project again, I am hoping we can get a good beta demo out by March.

I am starting to implement the bells and whistles into the code at the moment. Things like flares, volumetric fog, shaders, etc. All that stuff that makes it look pretty.

Hope everyone had a good holiday,
Loco

Howdy,

Well, I decided to post some new screen shots of the direction for the game we are currently testing, which includes an all-model levels, shaders, c_move, volumetric fog, etc.

The testing is not complete and we are not sure yet whether we will be able to do all of this with high-poly models and keep the FPS up on mid-level computer systems. Right now on higher-end computers with newer video cards the test are showing generally a low of around 44 FPS, average 60 FPS, and a High of around 120 FPS. In these test I am running a variety of shaders from the forums on everything to stress it as much as possible.

Here are some screen shots of it in action (Not an actual The Kid level though):

Later,
Loco

Luckily, no computers have cried yet. One computer with an older NVIDIA card did get down to 8 FPS though. All of the computers so far with ATi 9600 + cards have held in the 60ish + FPS range, dipping down to around 44 FPS low at certain high stress times. Haven't got to test alot NVIDIA cards yet, but we will do extensive test once we get an all-model test level complete to make sure we can continue in this direction. I think we are going to stick to PS2.0 for this game as far as shaders go.

I have got the AI and camera working again with a work-around to the c_trace problems I was having. C_move seems to be working almost flawlessly too. Astar pathfinding is working great too, even going up/down slopes/stairs from one height to another. So all is looking good at the moment for an all-model level.

Also, we are probably going to see how far 3DGS bends before it breaks or how far my coding bends before it breaks, one or the other, lol.

EDIT: Some test Results
P3 933mhz 256 RAM GF 5200: 20-40 FPS
Athlon 2.0ghz 512 RAM GF 5200: 8-30 FPS
P4 2.53ghz 512 RAM ATi9600: 44-120 FPS
P4 2.56ghz 512 RAM ATi9800: 48-128 FPS
P4 3.33ghz 1024 RAM ATi +x800 : 50-140FPS

If you want to have some tests run on an nVidia system with an FX5600 TD256, give me a shout, also, I can do tests with an ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128MB PCI as well, at least I could if I hadn't fried another power supply lol

Also, I like the look of that gas station.. is there going to be some crazy messed up gas station attendant?? Maybe one that is kinda warped and twisted?/

Ayrus
