XSpire AI

Spire Homepage

Spire AI System,

I am working on an upcoming Shooter AI System.
The XSpire AI is especially designed for fast, team-based Shooters like Unreal-Tournament
or Quake 3 Arena. But it can easily reconfigured to bring fierce enemies into life in
classical Singleplayer FPS Missions.

It will feature:
-different gametypes (Capture the Flag, Domination, Assault etc...)
-Different, adjustable Bot-Skill-levels
-configurable Weapons and Upgrades.
-Node-path editor for BOT-Ai
-Fast and challenging Bots
-Implementation for classical Singleplayer Missions
-Readymade implementation, just create your level,
configure the weapons, and edits the BOT-NODES
to have a running FPS Shooter.

Here is an early version of the AI, to demonstrate how it works.
There are still a lot of things missing, and is not focused on nice GFX,
as it should mainly show how
the AI behaves in an running enviorment.

XSpire - AI Shooter Demo , early version, 8MB

More Updates to the datails of the AI, when the project progresses.

That's around 10 months... not 2 years.

this thread may be old, but I also wonder what the status of this project is, it seemed to be making so much progress, then voop!... gone.

Either it has been set on a loooong vacation mode, or it's dead... I hope the first one. That also counts for the wasteland project, what happened to that? Or better said: what happened to damocles?

I currently moved to Sweden for a while, and have to get my studies running here.
The thing is also, that I am not happy with the last 3dGS Updates, and dont like
developing with them. And certain inconsistancies can occur with the skripts that are
made with 6.31.

It would be probably more senseful to use the skripts within a closed project
for a specific shooter project that is build on the XSpire architecure from
the beginning. As it would be hard for newbees that dont know the architechture
to implement it into their stuff. It is not like implementating an effect skript.

Making a click and play shooter would be possible, but that basically means
to just be able to change the Levels, Model, Sounds and Grafix from a fixed shooter Game.
(Just like a typical MOD )
Making the AI to offer the ability to Customize all parts is very work intensive, and you should
rather look at what Aris is developing.

Given the time and effort to fully develop this, and the potential market (that is
not very big), it is not really
economical to develop it further for a public tool. It is fun for me to do AI,
but if it turns to beeing less fun and mostly work I require an appropriate compensation.

Though it is almost a finished project. Just some levels, stuff etc, and you can publish the game for commercial purposes. I just think it's a pity if you discard the project (both projects btw), while you put that much work in it.

But oh well, it remains your project after all your choise of course.
Just my 2 cents.

maybe Xpire has "XSPIRED", sorry couldnt resist.

I wouldnt bank your project on waiting for this program hes making, even though it looks promising. (Im sure it will come out good, judging by his other apps). It will be like you waiting for the long block in tetris when you coulda been filling the gap earlier.

You're not as unique as you think you are, try again.

Hello,

Straight_Heart watch out, that You don't expire ;-)
Have You ever seen the XSpire demo? With all the arwork and how it is set up?
Having read YOUR comment ... I could not resist!

XSpire is still a great piece of artwork!
The trouble with the change in the code from A6.31 to A6.4 I do know from my own. Me and my friend had to resetup our whole stuff. But A6.4+ comes with neat features.

@Damocles: Perhaps You wanna go on one day. I really would appreaciate that :-)

So, all of You have a nice day.

I did not test the code under the new 3dgs version yet.
But basically it should work. There might be some things with the traces to
watch for, and some things might look different, but basically there
is nothing that should not work in the new version.

By the way, as you have asked in the PM, the lights are panels that
get turned on and off when the light is visible. The Sprite is done in Gimp / Sunflare

Working further on the project is more a question of
financing. With the propper compensation I would work on it, simple as that.
