1000th post: River Bend Project FINISHED!

Saved my 1000th for this....

Check! Check! Is this thing on?

Your attention please!

Nordic Epitaph Games after 2 3/4 years, Has completed and released the River Bend Project. We sold our first 10 copies at the resort last weekend.

The first level is a re-creation of the River Bend Resort in Watertown Wisconsin. the other 9 or so levels are, well not real places

We promised to let the forums have the game for free for a few days, also to give CC's, though I dont know how much time there will be to make changes now that we've moved on to contract work for Novint.

I babble a lot, so lets just let it be. Download, play, and hopefully enjoy!

Please be brutal and honest with commentary, but try and state bad AND good things if any.

Theres no DirectX included with this version, and it's approx 75 MB download.

Our Gift to you all... (then you'll have to pay if you miss the free download)

- Ride the waterlides!
- Shoot UFOs!
- Fly in a Spacecraft!
- Destroy the Mothership!
- Try to Survive!

Searched some more and I think I might have an exact solution for you, I have two ideas from two different people. The simpilest is...
Quote:

File > Map Properties > Nexus

Just bump it up little bit by little bit until the error goes away because too much is a waste of your memory.

Or two, bump up the nexus size to what a specific feature in A6 tells you too

After looking around on the forumns I looked around in my manuel (once again be advised that it is an A5 manuel, and I found a few variables you should test, and add together to find a rough idea of what you should use as a nexus.

Quote:

Adding the d3d_tex.. variables gives the total sum of video memory currently used for the game. Due to swapping and compression, the total value can be remarkably higher than the amount of video memory available on the 3D card.

d3d_texbmaps - Amount of video memory currently used for panels and view entities
d3d_texskins - Amount of video memory currently used for level models
d3d_texsmaps - Amount of video memory currently used for wmb shadow maps
d3d_texsurfs - Amount of video memory currently used for wmb surfaces

and this one is a little different:
d3d_texfree - Indicates the amount of texture memory still available on the 3D card, in KB

Hope this helps

Ok Im gonna boost up the nexus numbers a bit for starters,

I also believe the installers were part of the problem too, since now that you're testing with a RAR file, and it seems *some* of the problems have lessened for anyone using this instead of the installer versions.

Also, a friend from the resort used the installer, and they couldnt run the game at all because it gave a 'missing path' error. THAT, is weird, and theres really no other explaination but installer errors since noone else had that problem it seems.

Ill add to this post when I've upped the nexus.... Thanks again!

Turn on the engine or whatever that is... its on the control panel... then go upstairs and get the red key thats in the rest rooms. Then go thru the red door and turn on both switches by the front window ... Then you can do what I did run around like a crazy man untill the asteroids start coming then approach the front window and youll grab the turret... Then attempt blasting the asteroids....

Sorry if this sounds confusing but I dont know the actual terms to use.

The nexus sounds like a good place to start. Really hope you get the crash issues worked out. Other then that I really enjoyed playing the game.

So what is the plan, or is that under wraps? Furthermore, do we have a ETA for the new updated version (I'll test it even if the nexus is the only thing that changed)? Give us the lowdown

Nexus Now 64
Ok, This is the same link with the new RAR file.

The Logo scene is technically called first in the script, so I upped the nexus for both the logo scene and the first levels. The old nexus of 30 has been changed to 64 now.

Plese download the new rar file and see if the crashes/errors are less or fixed altogether.

There have been no other changes to the levels so all the previous sugesstions have not been implemented.

Thanks for your assistance, please download again and test for us. We really appreciate it!
