Aaaah! Just what I need! General clues about WED design issues are needed - its Ok to jump straight into modeling, but I was concerned that I would do a whole lot of modeling BADLY. I have been bugging people to get some clues on avoiding early mistakes on my level. I am trying to optimise portal count and fps etc since the level/s will as big and detailed as possible. So far I've concluded that sprites are a good choice, and that prefabs are nasty. It seems better to build mini-levels and insert them into your main level. So far I have not even attempted to compile with high qual lighting, it's going to take all day! Are you just covering "indoor" scenes? Seems the terrain and sky issues are a big issue for beginners (like me). Especially how to get realism with skybox background and nearby geometry. Also texture issues - whether you can save fps/memory by re-using textures, recommended textures resolutions (256 or 512), pros & cons of pcx,bmp & tga, how to use alpha etc etc. (Maybe some of this is answered in other tutorials)' Look forward to seeing this tutorial! Thanks Dan Tim
I discovered I exist for a purpose.
