I agree that G4W is a more accepted standard, I regularly see the G4W titles stand out at store shelfs much more than the normal boxed. This is due to Microsoft and the retailers setting aside shelf space for G4W titles only in many stores. That's why I would hope A7 becomes compliant. The xinput can be done via dll, but whatever else is needed would be nice if can be implemented.

Looks like JCI is working on it \:\)

If this is mostly for retail then I'm not that bothered, I'll be using download systems and bypass retail (IE Streamworks).

If you look at NPD numbers; retail (Windows games) don't sell that well anymore, but I don't think this is the true picture downloads may not be accounted for!.

Anyways just my 2cent \:\)

The default EXE does not contain a manifest, but you can easily compile an EXE with a manifest. You'll find the EXE source code in the engine SDK.

If you have a problem with the manifest, post again - I'll then generate and upload an EXE that meets the requirement.

JCL: Sorry to bug you, but we're having difficulties compiling the sdk_engine code even without any manifest changes. Any chance you could upload that EXE with the required manifest already in it, as you were suggesting? Or, if you have instructions for compiling the engine using Visual Studio 2005 that are more detailed (and more complete) than the manual, that would work, too.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

These are my thoughts as well... I don't get why having that sticker would make ANY difference for the majority of the community right now.

For one, 3DGS games are not predominatly retail (at least not in the US) so the sticker might be used by one or two people EVER in the next 5 years.

For second, having the sticker doesn't make the game better or worse, just complient to some engineers standards; hardly a payoff for any effort.

For third and for most important, when have YOU ever, as a consumer, NOT bought a game because it DIND'T have that sticker? When did you buy the game only BECAUSE it had that label? Exactly! Zero influence on buying as far as I'm concerned. ;\)
