I just found something a little older it is quiet fun to watch.
Well you will see a "tree" growing towards the light.

realy cool script. that "thing", my computer created, dosent look nearly like a tree, but its indeed funnny to look at and sea it grow. i watched it till the engine crashed smile

Well i thought of improving it so a tree limb cant get bigger than the one before :-D and make them look more seamlessly with some mesh deformation ^^

To get rid of the crash, you should count the entities and stop growing at a certain limit.

Do you know the nvidia tree demo? Its probably from2001, couldn't find a download in the web, though.

Main difference: it didn't grow like yours, but it gave you parameters to adjust the size and spin and density of leaves etc. And, you could choose day mode and night mode, while in night mode you could watch fireflies flying through the crown of the tree illuminating its branches and leaves in different colours!

Nice idea, now what rests are some leaves and a plausible texture and we can officially call it a tree ^^
Btw, I guess my tree has been the victim of genetic mutation laugh laugh
Anyway, with some improvements this will have great potential like Pappenheimer already indicated smile smile
Btw, I assume the tree grows to a certain light spot and not at random right wink wink ??

well the tree limbs just grow if they can trace to the lightsource, but the lightsource can be anywhere so they don't grow random wink

good way to benchmark 3dgs on your computer :P
mine got to about 30 before it got to slideshow quality :P

Yes 30 is the size of the trunk wink and now the oens with no childs only get energy and give 25% of their energy to their parent if they are bigger than 75% of the parent they will give all their energy to their parent to make it grow and allow them get bigger wink
