both look the same the one with just a texture and the one with the shader applied, my grapics card is geforcefx 5200, surly that works with shaders

cheers slin so i can only use shader 2.0 till i upgrade me card then. don`t suppose anyone has this in 2.0
I have a lap top with bad card and it acepted this shadermodel3 3.0.. Try to change the tecnquiue to pixel shader 2 as above: technique T0 { pass P0 { ZEnable = TRUE; ZWriteEnable = TRUE; CullMode = none; VertexShader = compile vs_2_0 vertex_main(); PixelShader = compile ps_2_0 fragment_main(); } }

And about the clean, up, the formulas i use are the nedded to do such effect, mental mill works adding specific nodes, with specifc formulas, and they are fast, i mean, they are from nVidea Developers, of course there are text not necessary.
And i talked with them about implementing an optimizing feature.. and clean some unnecessary text.

i can't change the formulas, since, they are needed for specific outputs, i can just clean the unneeded text... the rest i can't optimize. im not that expert yet. I just needed this to my game, and i would like to share, it, for me it worked nice, for the publishing of course i would need to review and test in other cards, anyway, the fx composer has a option to show the performance of it, in any card i want, and it seams pretty god for average.. thats why i did not touched anything, since it works, ok it can be ugly code, but i don't know other way, im not into shaders at all.

Just in case you would miss it if I would edit my previous post: That "unnecessary text" is needed for the editor. It marks for examples variables to be set. I guess an "optimizing feature" would already be in there if it would be that easy What the editor does is just lining up a lot of different formulas until you get the desired effect. But many things could be done much easier than the combination of all those nodes is.

I know you right, but i don't know other way, you know, thats what i got from mental mill, and i just wanted to share.. just that. I like your presence, and being critical makes me better.
