This video game might be of interest for the game programmers attending this forum, evolutionism being one of the most popular topic Some time ago I read a book by Richard Dawkins He was looking for expert graphic programmers to work togheter on a visual simulation of evolution He might be still interested , if some one wishes to contact him.. Obviously you can not expect to go from a single spore to a galactic civilization, like in the game, but , according to him, it should be possible to obtain some interesting results The fossils demostrate that the first animals were like the creatures of the game Eyes on the tail, ears on the legs etc Everywere but on the head

Did I miss something over the past two years with Spore.
When Will Wright posted the demo of Spore two years ago, Spore look more photorealistic.
Now the creatures look like something Disney would create. I am having trouble deciding if the game has been to kiddiefied and watered down.
Seems odd let's go take our cute virtual stuffed animals and let them loose and see if they will survive in an evolving world.
OH it's just my observation, but I prefer the style Will used two years ago, not this cartooney crap now...
Ken I couldn't agree more, I also think it's a bad thing they changed the visuals so much. However I think the game will be a little bit outdated when it comes to graphics.. and this is the only way to camouflage this... it worked for The Sims and will work for Spore again, no doubt. Also the recent trend making more colorful games is still ongoing, so I doubt EA nor Will Wright will worry much about this. Cheers
