When I import a 3DS model into MED, it looks like MED smooths it...
How can I fix this?

you have to break up your model. med does not interpret hard edges and smoothing groups afaik.

the actual workflow depends on the program you are using. Wings3d for example offers you to export "autosmooth groups", breaking up your model automatically.

In the model, I dont have any smooting modifiers attached...
This is how it looks like without materials in Max:



You can see it is devided in 4 different parts.
None of them has smoothing attached as a modifier.
