First, I've used 3DGS on and off for a few years now, so I think I know my way around the program reasonably well. Just upgraded my computer after the previous one died and now every time I build something in WED I get a 100% black screen - nothing to see at all. I stripped it down to the barest of bare essentials - a hollow cube, an entity, and a single light source. Still no joy - solid black. I even downloaded the WED tutorial (WED_Tutorial_e.chm + TUT_WORK dir) and when I open those levels it's all black.

The car level seems to open OK although there's a pretty long pause before I see the car (and it's solid black for that duration - maybe the A7 logo is supposed to be displayed there?)

I am using default everything and my video card is nVidia 8500. It seems to work fine on everything else I've thrown at it but for some reason I can't get my levels to display.

I know this is kind of a vague symptom, but any ideas?

Well, I figured it out - with no lights defined, I get an "all black" image but if I add an area light and crank up the range to 1000 I can finally see what's happening. Anything much less than that and it's completely dark.

I'm pretty sure that in the A6 days there was a default light that was bright enough to look around in a simple room; maybe I'm crazy or maybe this has changed in A7. In any case it seems to work fine with an added, bright light. Duh.

Did you set the ambient light? I'm still with A6, but you should always define the ambient light under global properties when creating a new level.
