I have never had that particular problem myself, but in general I recommend a "divide and conquer" strategy. Try creating a really basic level just to see if you can get that to work - start with a large cube, hollow it, and put in a position (Object>>Add Position). This creates a starting camera view. Build that with all default settings, and run it.
If that gives you the same problem you're probably looking at some kind of video card issue - do you have a modern, mainstream video card like an nVidia or ATI? Latest drivers? Any problems running commercial 3D games on your system?
Finally, if you own an edition of 3DGS (i.e. you're not using the free trial version), I believe the purchase price includes a couple of email support questions to Conitec - so you could go straight to the experts in that case.
