For sure Leadwerks is Blitz3d related
It supplies pratically the same functions
I have been using Blitz for 4 years
One of the best engine ever
With a bunch of functions you can accomplish pratically every task, even without reading the manual, every thing being so intuitive

I quitted with Blitz because :

- the rendering engine was outdated ( direct x 7.0)
- it was lacking a world editor
- the scripting language was basic based

Leadwerks supplies also the excellent 3d world studio ( cartographi shop)
The script language Bmax is OO
You can use also C++ or C#

LaedWerks might be the right solution for serious amateurs

the problem with leadwerks is it only supports cards with 3.0 and higher and needs a very (not even semi-high) card to run well, which is good if you want your game to be released in a year or two, but for games that are small and quick to make you cant count on much of the population having it. (they recommend an nvidia 8800 which is relatively expensive, like $150 for one.)

No actually I did not buy it
I simply went through the demo and tutorials
However it seems to combine advanced graphics and ease of use , unlike C4 for example which is for sure a great engine but I would not recommend it to an hobbyest programmer
I agree with lostclimate about 3.0

This engine is surely not made to produce another casual game for kids and women. If that is what you want to make then use TGB or Gamestudio for that.

Actually a game technology powering a new ambitious project has to be a few years ahead. Why should I start a new project with shader 1.x if I finish it in a few years? Most shader 2 games look old-school even today.

Just use the tool that meets your needs!

thats my point! thief laugh

no, that is exactly what im saying that it isnt for smaller games, or games meant to be played on occasion, its meant for bleeding edge games.

Uuups. i meant @FoxZero. But good to see youre interested anyway ...

Yeah, I totally agree with you. LW 2.0 is an unfinished project, but by the time I get the appropriete hardware it should be further along.
