Why would it be hard to get free stuff with high quality
Because people work hard to get that quality altought it's possible to find high detailed stuff for free 'sometimes'.
Anyway, making small projects makes you gain experience thus that is the inital problem here. Using templates can be good to get the habit and the starting experience but the real thing comes with doing it yourself You can try to assemble a team but mind that you need a good structure for setting up a proper team.
Btw, a real rpg look can be achieved by not using the templates (IMHO) and using reference objects and your own creativity ^^

I used the templates just so i could get the magic and inventry and the lvlup,
I added quite a lot of my own code to it. I wanted to find a team ages ago, but there aren't many ppl who models for free

ok, hope this has more of an rpg look, I added some models. Now there are animals and there are footprints in the snowy level!

getting better, I also made some traps that hurts the player, and crates for the player to search and get money and weapons. And I have small pebbles on some roads now!

looks nice and nicer every time. You might want to look into either making the areas smaller, or filling them up more. right now it looks very empty.
