i don't understand a single word in the docs, but it's cool nevertheless Lol. Either do I really. What is the relevance of this? It is obviously for people to develop graphics in open gl on the latest hardware. So in that case it is good to have as general knowledge but I dont really know anything about it as right now I just use gamestudio. Perhaps Ambassador can tell us why, exactly he is excited about it, I am just assuming that your programming a game engine in 3d..

Well finally you can use all modern hardware's features in something else than DirectX. I think it was a shame that all this took so long - imo it's one of the reasons that you nowadays have about zero OpenGL games in contrast to just "a few" a couple of years back and even now everyone is getting ready to introduce the DirectX 11 standard to their hardware... Well at least I can hope for some fixes in the ATI drivers which I was told were delayed until there are final OpenGL 3.0 specs and maybe I'll see one or two games giving me DirectX10 effects without Vista... Enjoy your meal Toast

Well finally you can use all modern hardware's features in something else than DirectX. You can always use the latest features in OpenGL through vendor extensions. No new OpenGL version is needed for that. OpenGL 3.0 doesn´t seem to be well received: http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/08/11/2135259&from=rssIf Intel´s Larrabee idea will work out then DirectX and OpenGL will become obsolete anyway. We will go back to software rendering.

Yes, on NVIDIA graphics cards, but as Toast stated above, ATI stopped to support more extensions with their drivers. I am a bit excited about this, but currently don´t really have the knowledge to mess around with it...

We will go back to software rendering. They bring up a good point. This is geared more towards the expensive CAD developers than game developers. Obviously the former is more important to them.
