Yeah, but science doesn't pretend to have absolute answers. In fact there's no such thing possible anyways for many reasons. Theorizing about possibilities to some extent is the most futile thing science can do if checking theories, data and more so some of the assumptions made along the way, is this difficult, as in currently almost physically impossible. I mean, what's the point when you can't physically (by means of manned or unmanned remote controlled spacecraft) visit places that might have a higher chance of having life forms? For all we know life might as well be floating around in space as well (anyone recall the 'light tube worm' kind of thing filmed by an astronaut? looked a lot like life in space to me).

I didn't know this was proven already, but yeah it's at least very likely to have been a place where life must have been able to survive as far as conditions go.
