As long as we dont find life on other planets, we cant state a number how it is distributed in the universe, as the calculation behind this "number" yields no testable prove/disprove and is thus unscientific, its a pure theory based on asumed parameters.

Let me tell you the reality of our existence. There was a creature which roamed all alone. When he aquired all the knowledge that was possible, then he created different lifeforms of different intelligence and assigned them on various planets, created enough support for those lifeforms so they could sustain. Now that creature maintains all these planets and amuses himself by playing with them. Occassionaly he transfers his creations between these planets and tries to amuse himself by seeing reactions of his creations.
As far as science is concerned, its yet in its infancy. There are many hidden and unknown things about our own universe unresolved. It is more likely to get jolted by peculiar things when we will be able to travel in inter-galatic worlds.

Make that IF we will ever be able to travel there. Yeah, totally, as it's definitely not inevitable that such technology will ever be available to us, contrary to what some people tend to think...

(Spared lengthy gibberish meant to serve as a counter. Oops, passed lengthy other gibberish, instead.) That perspective may be filled with (lower!?) 'life' bias. Self is not immune to media mental garbage injection. To quote Tool!?; Maybe, 'I' can join others in play, and (pretend to) hope for 'bigger fish' also. Quoting PHeMoX. But look at if from the bright side, if it's "empty", we might as well exploit it. So, the brighter side, includes exploitation!? If humanity crawls out of it's pond, and finds a bigger sea, as far as bright sides go, maybe what goes around, will come around.
