I know this question has been posted before, but from reading through the topics on this one I cannot seem to find an answer to the question. So I am posting again in an effort to obtain an answer.

In part 1 of the FPS tutorial by Grimber, he starts by saying to add cbabe.mdl to an empty level. The empty level I can create - that's not the problem. My problem is that I do not know where cbabe.mdl is coming from. I cannot seem to find this model in any of the directories for 3DGS, and there were no files other than the Word document included in the download.

Can someone please tell me where to find cbabe.mdl? Is there a tutorial that covers creating this model? Is this included as part of the models.zip download?

you find in the templates directory in your gamestudio folder
If you can't find it you will find it here to download.
look for the download page

Again, I looked in the Templates directory, and it isn't there. I have also looked at every model that is in every directory for 3dgs, and the only bipedal model is marine.mdl (which I could use if I cannot find cbabe.mdl).

If it is included as part of one of the downloads, can you post a direct link to it? I have scoured the downloads page, and I cannot find a download for this model?

1) Click the "downloads" link at the top/left corner of this page;
2) Look in the "Tutorials" section (third from the top);
3) Click the link for the "Game Design Tutorial2" (A6 WDL Game Templates ~24 MB May 2007).

The download file is called "template6_e.zip" for the English version or "template6_d.zip" for the German version. Inside the zip file is another zip file named "T6tut1c.zip". The cbabe.mdl is located in this zip.

This link should also get you the English version: http://server.conitec.net/down/template6_e.zip

I downloaded Game Design Tutorial 2, and I found it in there. Thanks for clarifying that.

But I have 2 lingering questions on this. First, why would the model that you need for a tutorial not be included with that tutorial? I mean, why would you bury the model in another tutorial, reference it, and then not state where it was? And secondly, is it just me, or does Conitec need to go through all of the tutorials and redo them? You know - make them all seem......normal?

Maybe the tutorial which includes the model was released first before the other one and the creators think you´ve downloaded the old one before...

ps: the "famous" office level is NOT included into Gamestudio 6 or 7 if you wan to do the old tuts with the office level you´ve got to download a5 or maybe an old AUM

Nope, that's not it. Game Design Tutorial 2 (which is where cbabe.mdl is located) was uploaded in May 2007, while the FPS tutorial part 1 was uploaded 11/14/2004.

Haven't heard of this. Probably in one of the tutorials that I haven't come across yet. But I'll keep an open eye on this one.

the cbabe.mdl used to come with gamestudio. thats why it is refrenced. also so you know that the tutorial is old so not everything is going to be the same.

Wait, there isn't a "Make My Game Now" button?
