@jcl: Thanks for your response. I want to make it clear that I am sure that 3DGS would not distribute anything harmful in their software and I never meant to insinuate any such thing.
Nevertheless you should notify the manufacturer of your adware program about false alerts, and you can send him the uninstaller for testing.
I have to apologize that I cannot honor your request for ME to send the uninstaller.exe file to PC Tools Spyware Doctor. It is after all YOUR
Spyware that has Hijacked MY computer (harmful or not) and it remains your responsibility to keep it off of any spyware lists.
Spyware Doctor considers it to be a Medium risk infection, not a harmless false alert and not a low-risk infection. As far as I am concerned Spyware Doctor did it's Job wonderfully and I can not fault them. I applaud them and will continue to use their service.
ATOMIX: adware is a program that automatically downloads advertisements to a PC. Don't confuse this with a virus: unlike viruses, adware in Gamestudio had to be intentionally implemented by us.
You call it adware, I call it Spyware. I would never confuse it with a Virus, but it is considered by people way more qualified than me to be an infection. You have my email address, if you want to send me an advertisement, send me an email. I might read it. The reason developers are stooping to this invasive practice is that no one wants to read their advertisements and deletes their emails. Simply a difference of opinion. Now that we know about the infection, we have taken measures to deal with it.
I guess it is OK now for software developers to write BHO's into their software. Actually the US Congress is considering bills to make Hijacking computers (BHO's) illegal and have already been holding hearings on the matter. Even the politicians are sick of their computers being controlled by someone other than themselves. While your companies Hijack may be harmless, many are not and need to be dealt with. The loss of bandwidth from Hijackers (BHO's) is huge on the Wifi networks. I know from personal experience as I have worked in Telecom for over 20 years and the BHO's that are so harmless are clogging up our networks. We get more bandwidth and someone always wants to hog more than their share, such is the way of humanity.
If you feel that your company has to do this to your software that is your prerogative. I almost understand your reasons. I just would have liked to have been warned in advance so I would be prepared. Once again thanks for the explanation of your companies policy and reasoning.
