it doesnt matter where do you put it. if you ran server.bat and then client.bat and if client said it cant find server then your port isnt forwarded or some antivirus app is blocking.

i had problems with nod32 smart security 3.xx cause it blocked dplay8 and some other things from client. so i suggest you to try to test that out without antivirus turned on
