I am unsure if this was the appropriate place to post this...
I was on ShareCG the other day and found something that caught my eye. One was a piece of wood that claims to be breakable in a 3D Game engine. It came with a solid peace that looks like slabs of wood connected together then broken peaces. So I was wondering how I implement that into my game. It just really confuses me. How can I have more than one model on-top of another? Because I'm guessing you would have it where you would have a trigger or something that when you hit it or shoot it it "Breaks to one level (Model) So how do I set that up? I also have one of a grate that can break and is in a whole peace and broken ones as well.
Thanks for the help and I am so sorry if this post did not make seance I did my best to explain what I needed help with. If you want the files I have found you can go on ShareCG (Just Google that) or I'll link you to there pages if you want. Thanbks agian! Bye!
Im a total noob so dont take my word for it, but i suspect that you would create said entity with the normal full model, and then when the event comes that it should break, you replace said model with the broken one. Just my noobish guess though, if im wrong, pay no atention here hehe
Thanks for the response! I see your point and your theory makes a-lot of seance. But could someone make like a min-tut on how to do this please? I am still confused somewhat. I now have a better understanding thanks to ApenasEu but still don't know how to do it exactly.
Hey there again, just have a quick question of my own, does the broken model have an animation of it breaking? so that when the event occurs you would, - swap model - play breaking animation - (optional) delete entity Just myself wondering
Hmm i only saw the first link but i imagine the second one is the same, so i guess you swap the model with the broken frame model and then create 2 entities with the other 2 models and make then fall or react the way you want them, the "easy" way would be to make them physics objects i guess, but again... just me wondering... nothing else sorry.
