I don't think it's that bad to add "for sale" objects into user con, cause it's somehow a constribution too, isn't it?
But on the other hand it could help to clean up some stuff.

I think a contribution is nothing you can request money for.
But I'm no native english speaker, thus I might misinterpret this.

charity means that you don't expect money for it. Yes, there should be a separate forum for "selling" things, because selling a product is different than "contributing" it.

im really surprized that as many people are against it as there are , i see no downside people could still sell there items , user contributions could be used for what it was meant for , and not an advertising playground and it would clean things up and put things in there proper place. the forum would also grow!

I agree, but more forum areas means less people visiting the 'For Sale' area. I'm sure that's why people that actually sell things, probably voted against a separate forum,
