Hello JCL,

I refer you to this thread :-

http://www.coniserver.net/ubb7/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=234743#Post234743

Basically I create a sealed hollow room with no lights and when I build the map, I see two bright white blocks inside the room. Since the room is "sealed" there should be no way sunlight should enter the room. If I uncheck "create meshes" and build the map, everything is fine. If I set the colour value of sunlight to RGB(0,0,0) the level builds fine.

Disabling the sunlight is not the solution to this as if I create a door in that map leading to outside scenery, shadows won't cast properly on geometry from sun.

I can send you the simple WED project, I am using A7 version 7.50 ... can you tell me what is causing the problem?

There is one obvious reason and two simple fixes of that problem.

The obvious reason is that you probably have messed around with the surface shading setting and disabled shading this way. No shading means no lightmap.

And the fix is either enabling lightmaps by marking the default 'Shaded' box again, or setting the diffuse component of the unshaded material (mat_flat) so that it does not reflect sun light if that is not desired.

The material does not care if your room is closed or not.

Hello JCL,

Shading is enabled for all blocks and I did not change any surface settings at all. I just dropped a green light in the room and this is what I get :-

Any further ideas? I can send the simple level to you if you want just let me know where to send it.

strange, default settings works for me, but default settings are now a bit outdated and uses lighting v1 which will be completely removed on fyrther updates.

try checking lighting 2.0 checkbox and then press ok instead of defaukt build.

Yes!! Checking lighting 2.0 works! So we should all be using Lighting 2.0?

Yes, always use lighting 2.0. The latest version does not contain lighting 1 anymore.

Still, it's strange that you got that problem with lighting 1. The two surfaces look as if they are set to "flat" and not to "shaded".
