Any not-by-hand tools are for noobs. Dreamweaver and frontpage both are a nightmare to work compatible webpages. It may look good, but hell, it's just click'n'go.

for extremely simple and easy and cheap... especially for beginners, i would suggest a WYSIWYG editor.

For those wanting scripts and all the techy stuff, theyre no good.

I don't know about .css, but for mouseovers and such theyre fine and easy.

I use a generic little program called Cool Page. It's a drag and drop super easy editor.

The pro web designers and fans of dreamweaver would laugh at the program, but not everyone needs such high end programs.

They've stopped development a long time ago, but it's still a great program for web design dummies like me.

Cool Page

They sell other products, but you're not going to need them.

I have to disagree here, sorry. It all depends what you want to do smile

When it's just a non professional fan page with a few pictures why bother to learn html when you can do the page with a few clicks in a few minutes? Learning html is surely a bit more time consuming than that.

And even for more complicated pages and a bit more advanced needs it makes more sense to use an WYSIWYG editor instead a text tool. I still use Kompozer to edit my homepage. Because it is super easy to handle, and is much faster than doing it in an editor. And when i really need to directly edit the source text i can even do that in Kompozer too.

then y00r da noob!

Nah, j/k. Everyone has their tastes. I like to do things by hand. I like crafting things with my hads rather than buy a machine that does it for me (or buy the item from shops) if there is such chance. That's just me though smile

I've enjoyed Freewebs in the past. IIRC, it is a pure html editor and you can buy domains or use their domain for free. The great thing about Freewebs was their preview window, so you could edit your webpages and actually watch the website come together.

Frontpage is no tool, it's a disease.

Agree.

I had to use Frontpage in high school and I vowed to use only pure HTML after that nightmare.

Personally, i just love editing html by hand.
So I can't give you any good advice.

In the company I worked before though, they used Dreamweaver and they were cussing all day long because of all the problems they had.

So I guess Dreamweaver is not "the" best solution here. Though best of luck finding it laugh
