I need to create a map large enough so that it takes 60-90 minutes to travel across it. I have tried scaling up the map and scaling down the player speed, but they move really really slow. They need to move at a normal speed, but it should still take them 60-90 minutes to cross the map. How would I do this?

Zones.

Look at WoW or Warhammer. They have vast zones . . . or so it seems. In fact what happens is when you enter one zone, the other zone is unloaded.

Warhammer seperates zones with a portal-type sprite that you run into and then the next zone loads. WoW is more seamless, but it is the same idea.
